Blizzard considering to release WoW expansion in China
In development of the upcoming expansion to the widely successful World of Warcraft, Blizzard are negotiating a deal with The9 to possibly publish Burning Crusade on Chinese shores.
The9 are currently run the China-localized version of World of Warcraft and own 30% of the company running the game in Taiwan. Currently, the reports are that the game will be released in mainland China sometime during 2007, whereas previously it was speculated for release in late 2006. Furthermore, it seems that The9’s current contract with Blizzard allows them to operate any WoW expansion regardless.
Does this mean there is conflict between both companies? In conclusion, there is only hope it’ll lead to something positive for the Chinese fans of World of Warcraft.
