Blizzard warns of fake StarCraft II beta invites

We know the launch of the StarCraft II beta is reason enough for you to get all excited. But that doesn’t mean you should drop your defenses. Scammers are on the prowl, and if you’re not on your guard, you might be their next victim.

 

 

We know the launch of the StarCraft II beta is reason enough for you to get all excited. But that doesn’t mean you should drop your defenses. Scammers are on the prowl, and if you’re not on your guard, you might be their next victim.

 

Blizzard warns that these scam beta invites being sent out will just be used to phish out your information. To find out if the beta you’ve received (or will receive) is legitimate, follow this checklist, provided by our friends at WoW.com.

 

• Type battle.net into your browser (no typos) and it will go to the secure battle.net site appropriate to your region.
• Enter your account info.
• Under Manage My Games, choose Add or Upgrade a Game.
• Enter the Beta Key provided in the email where it says Enter Game Key.
• Press Add Game

 

If the account works, then it’s obviously a real invite. If it doesn’t, then it’s not. If you do come across a fake invite, you may forward this concern to [email protected].
