Blizzard, the studio that brought us the Warcraft and StarCraft franchises, will be coming to this years Game Developers Conference with a bunch of events lined up for the five-day gathering in San Francisco.
Blizzard will be talking about more than just the two franchises that made their mark in video games, though. Aside from events centered on StarCraft and Warcraft, a lot of Blizzard’s events will be focused on the future of MMOs in a broader sense.
Speaking on their franchises, Blizzard’s VP of Game Design, Rob Pardo, will be speaking on a presentation entitled “Rules of Engagement: Blizzard’s Approach to Multiplayer Game Design.” Blizzard will also be showing a new cinematic “making of” video for StarCraft II.
Focusing on MMOs on a more broader scale, Blizzard will be holding a seminar entitled “Future of MMOs.” Blizzard will also be holding “Audio for MMOs,” a Q&A session with the audio directors behind WoW and Lord of the Rings Online.
Finally they will also be holding a tutorial session for programmers. “Physics for Game Programmers” is an 8-hour session for programmers interested in creating physics engines. Sounds heavy (sorry, but it was hard to resist that pun).
