Blu-ray leading in format wars due to Blockbuster?
Seems like Blockbuster‘s apparent endorsement of the Blu-ray format cannot be taken for granted, what with its 1,450 stores nationwide offering only movies in Blu-ray format. According to a post on Gizmodo, an unnamed retailing source observed a whole slew of HD-DVD orders getting cancelled after Blockbuster announced its support of Blu-ray.
If the rumor holds true, it’s not really that surprising: more entertainment studios are supporting Blu-ray, not to mention that HD-DVD player sales are weakening. However, this rumor needs to be backed up with substantial numbers of similar accounts happening in other retail stores.
