Blu-ray Line Up – with delay

At the end of last week Sony officially announced that the wheels of Blu-ray were truly in motion, the BDP-S1 should be hitting shelves in the US in July.

Also planned for release in time for SamsungÂ’s BD player launch are BD format movies there will be eight to set things off followed by eight more the next month. Definitely a descent offering if you are planning to have your PS3 be your Blu-ray player of choice.

This isnÂ’t the only Blu-ray product in the cards for Sony…They have also revealed that the Vaio RC series will come standard with BD compatible drives with the ability to Write/Re-write. Also, a management suite will be included.

They will also offer a “plain Jane” BD drive, the BWU-100A, due out latter this year.

The blank Blu-ray disc media will hold 25GB BD-Rs and will sell for $20 EACH. Re-writable discs will run you a cool $25 a piece. And for the 50GB versions (similar to dual layer DVD) will cost $48 write, and $60 re-write, which should appear on the market soon after.
