Blu-ray movie releases for the week of April 9

In keeping with the Sony PS3’s not-to-be-trifled-with capabilities as a high-def home entertainment system,  here are three more films to add to your Blu-ray collection. These Blu-ray movies are all set to be released this week, and while this current crop doesn’t have as many titles as previous releases, rest assured that more Blu-ray titles are coming soon.

• A Scanner Darkly (April 10)
• Dog Day Afternoon
• Payback: Straight Up (April 10)

That last one, “Payback: Straight Up”, is the director’s cut of the 1999 Mel Gibson starrer. It contains director Brian Helgeland’s original cut of the film, something that was deemed to be too dark for the mainstream public at the time of the movie’s release. If you’re a collector, you might want to check it out.
