Branches of the family tree: Godfather, PS3, and Wii
It’s time to stop and smell the roses (and then go beat people up). The Corleone clan just got bigger. Electronic Arts has announced the coming of two new video games in the Godfather franchise – The Godfather: The Don’s Edition for the PS3 and The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for the Wii.
While not much was known about these games previously, it’s still not a far cry from the PSP and 360 versions that we’ve become familiar with. The PS3 version will include The Corleone Expansion Pack with some new missions and gameplay, while the one coming out for the Wii will be making full use of the Wiimote for an enhanced combat experience.
However, in these upcoming titles, there’s going to be some new ways to rise from Soldier to Don as you go around the streets of New York. Whether you take the path of an Enforcer or Operator, there are always different pros and cons with the decisions you make.
Aside from some SIXAXIS manhandling control schemes (to manhandle your in-game victim), The Godfather: The Don’s Edition will also have new hubs to explore like the Shipyard and rail yard transportation hubs. For the Wii version, you’re going to be able to really give those bystanders a piece of your mind – the Wiimote and Nunchuk are your allies when you go out on the streets…
Both games are scheduled to ship in March 2007. There’s still enough time to practice your accent.
