Brazil to get Nintendo factory
Thanks to Nintendo’s gung-ho attitude of getting more and more Wiis out into the market, Brazilians could be enjoying lower prices for Nintendo’s next gen video game console. According to the games division of Brazilian news website No Minimo, Nintendo will be opening a factory in the state of Santa Catarina soon.
In a news clipping from the Santa Catarina government press room, it was mention that “[governor Luiz Henrique] also took a chance to announce the installation of a Nintendo factory, which will produce electronic games looking forward to an ambitious export program”. Translation provided by NeoGaf member Jiguryo, who also noted that imported Wiis could go as high as US$ 1188 in Brazil.
If the move pushes through, there’s a pretty high probability that locals would be able to both the Wii and DS at lower prices compared to importing them from overseas. Increased tech support could also be one of the benefits. If the factory produces software, aspiring game developers could also get a chance at getting their ideas out into the market.
