Bullet Witch 101: basic stuff you need to know

Bullet WitchIn the interest of saving time, this writer will no longer bore you with a fluffy intro loaded with wisecracks and witty vignettes. So. The Game Feed was able to score an interview with Jeremiah Cohn, Product Manager for the upcoming third-person shooter, Bullet Witch.

The interview tackles the essential stuff (especially for those who haven’t been doing their reading). So this post is a crash course 101 on Bullet Witch.

Basic game plot: The game is a third-person shooter where you play the role of Alicia (pronounced A-lee-see-ya) and is set in the year 2013. Kinda like a futuristic good vs. evil, your mission is to save humankind from total destruction.

On Alicia and her enemies: The game’s heroine, Alicia, is a product of a fusion of Japanese and Western mythology. Basically, she’s a “gothic witch character from Western occult lore, but her ironic sense of humor and brooding melancholy are more Japanese in origin.” The same fusion apples to her enemies as well, created by mixing Eastern and Western mythoi. They may look like “militaristic zombies,” but they’re clear-thinkers and are very organized.

What’s interesting about how the monsters are designed is that they actually provide an insight into human nature, flaws and all. Why? Because all the monsters featured in the game are demon-possessed people, whose fears and vices are manifested through their appearance as monsters.

Environments and Settings: Cohn describes the game environments as “a mix of urban and rural settings depending on where you are.” And of course, the environments will have a tremendous effect on your gameplay especially in terms of the spells and strategies you use in combat.

Weapons and Items: Cohn won’t reveal any specific details on this, only that the spells and weapons to choose from depend on who or what you’re fighting. If you’re being ganged up on, you’d naturally use a massive spell and not a close quarter combat one. Your choice of weapons and spells will also be reflective of the strategy you aim to employ in playing the game.

Why the 360 and not PS3?: The plain and simple answer is that they began developing the game early in the lifecycle of the 360, so they stuck with that so they can deliver the game in all its goodness on the 360.

Well there ya have it, told ya this was gonna be a quick one. For more game goodies you can check out the screens here and while you’re at it, you might wanna get the Japanese trailer for the game too.
