Bungie: Don’t count on Halo 3 game browser
Folks hanging around the official Bungie Studios forums have started a long thread about including a game browser, a feature that will allow Halo 3 players to find games they want to play instead of relying on the matchmaking system. It seems like the wish won’t come true anytime soon though, because an official reply said no to the idea.
According to Achronos, Bungie.net Overlord, talks about a game browser that has been around since Halo 2 was fresh. Developers concluded that matchmaking is the way to go, and players will have to rely on their friends lists, recent players lists, and the “party up” feature for custom games.
“This is not something that can be ‘patched in’ either,” the forum master said. Some are not exactly happy about the lack of a game browser, but Achronos sees no problems. In reply to a post saying Halo 3‘s longevity might suffer without this feature in, “Given Halo 2‘s performance with a similar system, I highly doubt that is the case.”
