Developer and publisher DotEmu has announced that they’ll be bringing R-Type‘s classic sidescrolling shoot ’em up action to the iPhone. A bit more after the jump.
Developer and publisher DotEmu has announced that they’ll be bringing R-Type‘s classic sidescrolling shoot ’em up action to the iPhone.
The company announced today that they’ve acquired “exploitation rights” for R-Type, although they didn’t specify exactly which R-Type game they’ll be releasing. The original, probably, although they keep calling it a ’90s SHMUP in the press release. Far as I know, the original game was first released in the late ’80s.
Enough nitpicking. Here’s a quote from Xavier Liard, CEO of DotEmu:
Our main goal is to make the best touch version possible of this great game to seduce both fans and new players. This is really a great game and we are eager to release it!
DotEmu hasn’t announced a release date yet, although they say it’s supposed to hit the App Store “in the following months.”
