Call of Duty 4 Beta tokens no longer “first come first serve”
The bad news: CharlieOscarDelta.com died just in time for the Beta registration of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The good news: to make up for it, the tokens will no longer be offered on a first come first serve basis.
Despite the assurances of the company who runs the site for Infinity Ward, the servers still crashed and this prompted Community Manager Fourzerotwo to announce on his blog today that he is just as angry as everyone else and he swears that he will take care of the community:
NO MORE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We will be taking care of the guys who’ve spent the last 6 months on the site, reading all of our updates, participating in our forums, and staying home all day today refreshing the site to get a token. […] That doesn’t mean post count, join date, or rank effect your chances for good or bad, it just means everyone will have an equal chance regardless of the site errors.
CharlieOscarDelta.com’s current plan is as follows:
We’re […] going to have open registration for 24 hours. So whether you’re able to get on the site within the hour, or log on at midnight tonight, you can sign-up and have an equal chance at a token. We will then take that massive database of sign-ups over the next 24 hours, and distribute all available tokens to the members who sign-up. We’re doing everything we can to make sure this site crash does not effect your chances for Beta glory.
