Camelot No Longer Supporting Nintendo Platforms

Camelot Software PlanningThe Japanese video game developer, Camelot Software Planning, is no longer supporting Nintendo platforms. The company known for partnering with Nintendo in producing spin-off franchise games such as Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, would be ceasing its partnership with Ninty for now. This was reported by German gaming magazine, Gemaga.

The reason? It seems that Camelot wants to concentrate fully and completely on its new golf game, aptly titled  I Love Golf. It is a online golf title that will be available in Japan‘s G-Planet service. This venture is in partnership with Eleven UP Incorporated and Yahoo! Japan who is responsible for account management and advertising.

Camelot was originally a sub-division of SEGA known as Sonic! Software Planning that was formed to create the Shining in the Darkness game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. They separated with Sega in the year 1995, but has continued developing the Shining games and would not release any games for rival systems that would hurt the Shining franchise. Camelot wrapped up Shining Force III for the Sega Saturn and formed a partnership with Nintendo which led to the creation of the Golden Sun games, among many others.
