CanalPlay Trailers Now Available at the French Xbox Live Marketplace

Finally, the CanalPlay MatchPoint and the CanalPlay SinCity trailers can now be downloaded from the French Xbox Live Marketplace. You haven’t heard of CanalPlay? We have no idea what it is, either. Comments about this announcement posted on Major Nelson ranged from “Is this porn?” to “romance crap” (The crap comment surfaced when someone mentioned the film Match Point starring Scarlett Johanssen).

Our own Googling brought us this piece of info:

Canalplay video is an on demand service in France. A joint venture between Canal+ and the IPTV service Free, it is available as part of the Freebox TV package includes DVD functionality allowing viewers to pause, rewind, chapter skip, etc. Movies across a range of genres are priced at €1.99 each for a 24 hour viewing period. New releases are priced at the higher rate of €2.99 each. Free aims to have several thousand titles in its library by the end of 2006 following a series of deals with French, European and US studios.

If we got our facts right, the CanalPlay trailers are not game but movie trailers of the ulltra-cool Sin City starring Bruce Willis and the “romance crap” Match Point. We could be wrong. Anyone out there can help us straighten this out? We’d really appreciate it.
