Capcom confirms Sagat’s and Balrog’s presence in Street Fighter 4

Sagat from the Street Fighter series - Image 1Having bosses is part and parcel of any good fighting game, and Street Fighter 4 is no exception. In fact, Capcom has officially confirmed the presence of two more characters for the game – Sagat and Balrog. Two videos will back up Capcom’s word as well. Check them out after the jump.

Remember how you had to go through three “grandmasters” before you got to M. Bison, the final boss in Street Fighter 2? Well, two of those grandmasters – Sagat and Balrog have returned for Street Fighter 4, and Capcom has officially confirmed it.

As shown in test locations around Japan, Sagat and Balrog don’t seem to be available in the character select mode, but according to Capcom, they may be challenged once the right conditions are met in single player mode. Note how Zangief uses his trademark, in-your-face brute force approach to pound Sagat into the pavement, but the big wrestler miscalculates his timing with Balrog.

Furthermore, the Street Fighter 4 version being tested included three new stages, namely the Drive In at Night stage in North America, the Beautiful Bay stage in South Asia and the Inland Jungle stage in South America. Capcom has noted that these may not be in their final form yet.

Before we proceed, please note that we are referring to the US Balrog here – the boxer, and not the Japanese Street Fighter 2 Balrog who is known as Vega in the US. That said, enjoy the videos (despite the view-obstructing passers-by):
