For Capcom, a video game about a wolf goddess with a magical paintbrush isn’t just about requiring players to wave their arms and pretend they’re making art. That much can be said after learning about the announcement of Capcom’s collaboration with popular art site deviantART to hold a contest where fans actually create art in celebration of Okami‘s release on the Nintendo Wii.
As the aesthetically refreshing Okami finally launches on the motion sensing-capable console this April 15, artists are encouraged to make art inspired by the game. If you’re 13 years old or older, you can join deviantART’s search for the best sumi-e illustrations from fans.
Three winners will be crowned with a new Wii console, copies of Okami, and deviantART subscriptions up for grabs. Submissions are accepted until April 2008, while the announcement of victorious participants happens on May 5. For more details, click on the “via” link below.
