Capcom to bring Japan’s Monster Hunter marketing mania to the west

Capcom to bring Japan's Monster Hunter marketing mania to the west - Image 1With the Monster Hunter (PSP, PS3) franchise’s reputation secure over in Japan, it appears that Capcom‘s setting its sights elsewhere. A company executive has recently announced that they will be bringing MH‘s marketing campaign over to the west. Details are in the full article.

Capcom: Japan's Monster Hunter marketing mania journeys to the west - Image 1If you’re wondering just how popular Monster Hunter is over in Japan, take a quick look at our previous posts.

Official site and TV spots are just the beginning of Capcom‘s promotional campaign over in that territory, which has gone from the range of plain fluff to just plain cool.

Now, what if we were to tell you that Capcom’s planning something similar for the west? This was the big heads-up being raised by Capcom Senior Director of Communications, Chris “Kramez” Kramer.

According to Kramer, Capcom is planning  “a significant marketing program” that’s aimed at raising general awareness in the west regarding their Monster Hunter franchise (PSP and PS3). As Kramer elaborated in his letter during an inquiry:

We’re not going to let up until there are as many people playing here in North America as there are in Japan!

While we have not made specific announcements regarding Monster Hunter 3 in North America (or Europe, for that matter) to date, you can bet we’ll be talking more about it in the future.

So, what sort of marketing campaign’s Capcom got planned for Monster Hunter‘s foray into our territory? We’re not sure, but given the sort of swag that was churned out just for Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G‘s upcoming launch in Japan, this is one topic we’re certainly keeping an eye on.

That, and I’m praying this means we’ll be getting our own share of the PSP’s Maffumoffu goodness. Drop by again in case we receive any related updates.
