Capcom’s full E3 ’09 line-up revealed with two mystery games

Capcom Strider - Image 1Capcom has officially revealed its entire lineup of games they’ll bring to this year’s E3 event. Some of the titles to appear on the show floor are to be expected: Marvel vs Capcom 2, Dark Void, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, a of couple Resident Evil games, etc. But what else is there? Two mystery games, that’s what! Time to put our thinking caps on! Could it be a Strider port/remake/all-new game? What about a new Darkstalkers game – that’s something we haven’t seen for quite some time now… Mega Man Legends, anyone?

“Roll call!”

Capcom has officially revealed its entire lineup of games they’ll bring to this year’s E3 event. Some of the titles to appear on the show floor are to be expected: Marvel vs Capcom 2, Dark Void, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, a of couple Resident Evil games, etc.

But what else is there? Here’s one of note: Dead Rising 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC will make its presence felt but only behind closed doors. And from what we know of closed doors, they usually stay ajar with leaked videos! Woot – standby for that in case we catch whiff of any.

Aside from that, there’s also two mystery games from Capcom on E3 ’09, just as what was hinted at a few days ago.

  • Dark Void (PS3, 360, PC)
  • Lost Planet 2 (currently 360, PC)
  • Dead Rising 2 (will be “behind closed doors”)
  • Spyborgs (Wii)
  • Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles (Wii)
  • Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP)
  • Marvel vs Capcom 2 (digital release for PS3, 360)
  • Fate Unlimited Codes (digital PSP release)
  • Street Fighter IV (PC)
  • Bionic Commando (PC)
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 (DS)
  • Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil (Wii)
  • Capcom Mystery Game #1 (playable in booth!)
  • Capcom Mystery Game #2 (announced at a press conference!)
  • plus games from Capcom’s mobile group, Capcom Interactive!

Capcom - Image 1A shame they’re not bringing that Miles Edgeworth spinoff game. But anyway (that’s just me being a Phoenix Wright geek – hah!), let’s put our thinking caps on! What are these two mystery games? To think, one of them’s playable – meaning they’re well into development for it already (wait, it really isn’t Ace Attorney Investigations, is it?!). Bah.

Could it be a Strider port/remake/all-new game? What about a new Darkstalkers game – that’s something we haven’t seen for quite some time now. Hmm, an Onimusha reboot?

Other franchises on my mind right now, which Capcom can pick up on…

  • Rival Schools
  • Mega Man Legends (a wildcard, but yeah, it’s on my mind…)
  • Power Stone
  • Clock Tower
  • Ace Attorney (a sequel to Apollo Justice, please!)
  • Okami
  • Viewtiful Joe
  • Breath of Fire (the last game, Dragon Quarter, didn’t sit well with me)
  • Dino Crisis
  • Devil May Cry (might be too soon for a new game though)

Of course, they can just blow us all away by announcing a new game that’s from a totally new IP – that works well too. What’s your take?
