Capcom’s Recommendations for Dead Rising’s Text Troubles

It’s not only the dead that rise in Dead Rising, but also the demand for the game’s text size to be bigger!

We here at QJ have mentioned in an earlier article that there have been complaints about gamers not being able to read the game’s texts on their SD TVs, and even featured Capcom’s statement about the problem. Acording to SD TV owners, this is what the game looks like on their TV screens (note the very unreadable text):

In a brief statement that Capcom issued, they admitted that Dead Rising really was optimized for High Definition TV’s, which explains why the game’s font is difficult to read on standard definition ones. However, Capcom has also provided a few recommendations for gamers who are experiencing this problem:

1.) Adjust the settings on your TV or monitor
2.) Use component cables instead of standard composite
3.) Set the TV to widescreen mode (and this applies even though you may not have a widescreen TV) as this may possibly help in giving you a better view of the game’s font

So far, the third suggestion made by Capcom has enabled several users in making the game’s text more readable, while some complain of seeing the text as larger, but the game looks stretched and blurry. We here at QJ have yet to try this one out to see if it really helps. We’ll keep you guys posted on this.
