Cars MMO in Disney’s pipeline?

Cars - Image 1Disney revealed quite a few details about their upcoming MMO projects during an interview about their highly-anticipated massively multiplayer online game Pirates of the Caribbean Online. No specifics as of yet, but one thing that stood out is a Cars MMO, based on the Pixar CG animated movie of the same name. No, we kid you not.

Mike Goslin, vice president of the VR Studio, says that while they’re busy dealing with the launch of Pirates of the Caribbean Online (as well as a full year’s worth of follow-on content), they’re also busy with several new projects. They didn’t quite reveal what these projects were and what Disney property they’re based on, but they did express an interest in doing Pixar properties, namely Cars. Goslin also touched on a project with princesses and fairies. As one would expect, they would be designed for girls.

We’re not too sure what to think of this. A Massively Multiplayer Online Game, with a car as your character? It’s certainly unique and is an interesting license to give the online game treatment. As always, updates as they happen, so keep it locked right here.
