Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Gameplay Videos

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

Pop quiz hot shot. It’s 1944 and someone’s trying to summon Dracula‘s castle onto the earthly plane. What do you do? What do you do?

Kick vampire butt, of course!

That’s the basic premise of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. In the game, you are given the choice of controlling one of two characters: vampire hunter Jonathan Morris (the son of Castlevania: BloodlinesJohn Morris), and a young sorceress named Charlotte Orlean. These two childhood friends are both descended from legendary clans committed to protecting mankind against the forces of evil. Y’know, just once I wanna play a game that features childhood friends blah legendary clans blah blah dedicated to the protection of demonkind from the forces of good.

As with the Julius mode from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, players will be able to switch freely between Jonathan and Charlotte to best use their unique abilities. They can also combine their powers, allowing for powerful combo attacks. With over 100 different types of enemies running all over the Egyptian deserts and misty towns that you can access through paintings in bad guy Brauner’s castle, players will definitely need all the firepower they can get at their fingertips.

As the first ever online Castlevania game, Portrait of Ruin will support the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection but there’s no word yet on what mode (co-op or versus) it will have. For now, just check out these gameplay videos.
