casual-gamesAlthough gaming seems to be an ongoing trend now among casual gamers, there’s nothing for the hardcore to be worried about. According to Doug Creutz of Cowen and Company, these “non-traditional” formats can actually be good for business.

Said Creutz, “We believe that these newer gaming media represent a distinct and non-competitive market segment from console gaming, which is dominated by the core gamer.”

He furthered, now that the consoles have settled in their mass market prices, the console cycle will “reaccelerate to the benefit of the publishers that are positioned to take advantage.”

So really, there’s no need to worry that your “serious” games will soon be overrun by casual ones. There’s room for co-existence in the market, and both types of games will do shine on their own.
