CCP announces extended downtime for EVE Online

EVE Online - Image 1CCP Games has announced that Tranquility will be experiencing some extended downtime tomorrow, July 31, from 4:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. GMT. The downtime will be enforced in order to make a few upgrades to the EVE Online database.

According to CCP, the downtime will be used mainly to upgrade their database to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2. Software is not the only thing being upgraded, however, as all of CCP's database hardware will also be replaced during that time.

More hardware upgrades will also be made on Thursday, August 2. Another RAMSAN unit will be added to the EVE Online hardware, expanding the solid state storage to 256 GB. Thankfully, no additional downtime will be required at this time.
