Celebrate spring break with XBLA’s discounted and new games
Spring break is in, and what are you planning to do? If you’re still going to coop yourself up in your house, then you might as well do it the right way with Microsoft‘s Xbox Live Arcade service. With a couple of top-notch XBLA games on discount and a whole slew of new games coming your way, it’s going to be a fun spring break playing video games. More details in the full article!
If you don’t have anything planned this spring break (blasphemy!), you may want to check out the games now added to Microsoft‘s XBLA bargain shelves. And this time they pack quite a wallop: with Assault Heroes and Doom now on permanent discount, any gamer who jumps into these selection of games will eventually forget about the fact that it’s spring break.
Sierra Online‘s Assault Heroes, hailed as the IGN’s XBLA Arcade Game of 2006, will have gamers scrambling in the search of an underground lab now for only 400 Microsoft Points. Another hard-hitting game is id Software‘s Doom, the classic that introduced gamers to the wonderful world of FPS. This game is also available for 400 Microsoft Points.
XBLA will also have a lot of new games coming your way: Rocky and Bullwinkle by Zen Studios will have over a hundred micro-games to ensure a good party fun. Choose from your favorite roster of characters from the series aside from the title characters.
Another party game coming up is Hidden Path Entertainment’s Wits & Wagers, a fun party trivia game that will let players thrown in their guesses and try to find out what their opponents are thinking, whether it be online or local multiplayer. You can use the Big Button Pad controllers for this one, by the way.
Yet another addictive puzzle game is TiQal from Slapdash games. This one is a bit more ethnic with its Mayan themes. Save a Mayan village from destruction by blasting off enemy blocks by matching squares of the same color. Like most other puzzle games of the same ilk, players can perform many combos and use power-ups.
But if you want a more serious puzzler, you may want to try Shotest Shogi by AI Factory and Rubicon Development. The virtual shogi board game is set in a Japanese-themed background, and offers 16 intelligent AI opponents.
But if neither puzzlers nor party games are your thing, you can just blast away with the upcoming Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 by Capcom. This popular arcade game offers solo gameplay or multiplayer for up to three players, where they can blast their way as they rescue prisoners of war and save the day.
That’s pretty much it for the sneak peek on what’s to come on XBLA. The pricing will be announced in the near future, so check this space for more updates!
