Chart Track looking for source of leaked hardware sales figures
Chart Track isn’t happy. The research firm is currently in hot pursuit of whoever leaked proprietary hardware sales data that showed that the Nintendo Wii had outsold the Sony PS3 by around 50% over the last week.
According to Kikizo, Chart Track has made clear that it is making sure that this sort of thing doesn’t happen again. The company is currently conducting an investigation to find out who is sharing its data. “We’ve already contacted someone we believe is responsible for the leaks,” Chart Track’s Adam Davis told Kikizo.
Chart Track releases weekly data on the best selling videogame hardware and software in the U.K. While the software rankings are normally released to the public, hardware rankings are available only to subscribers. These subscribers are also supposed to have an agreement with Chart Track not to release the information.
