Chart-Track: Metal Gear Solid 4 didn’t help much with UK PS3 sales
Despite its huge success in the UK, it’s been reported that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots did not help much in PlayStation 3 sales. Story in the full article.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots made a remarkable entrance in the UK Charts when it debuted, stomping out Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures from first place, despite the game only being out for only three days.
Despite this remarkable success though, it seems that Dorian Bloch of Chart-Track, a market research company for media products in the UK, is not impressed with MGS 4‘s performance as the PlayStation 3’s current flagship.
According to Bloch, Guns of the Patriots didn’t do much to help with hardware sales, saying: “There’s not a lot to say about it – it had minimal impact really. Units were up by seven percent..” Indeed, that’s all he said about it. Not a lot at all.
Maybe sales were stunted because SCEE didn’t release the Gunmetal Gray bundle in the region. Still, one cannot deny its impact in other regions. In Japan, hardware sales for the PlayStation 3 jumped 700% thanks to MGS 4. That’s a huge number.
