Physics engines have always been an amusing way to test the limits of any platform. This latest homebrew physics engine developed by MK2k takes a look at some of the innovative game physics that can take place on the PlayStation Portable handheld with the Chipmunk Physics Demo PSP.
This nifty demo application was based on a port of the Chipmunk Physics Library by Slembcke and uses the graphics and user input from Dr. Watson’s JGE++ Engine.
To give everyone a better idea, the developer has also provided a demo video of the program in action. If the video seems rather slow and choppy, that’s because it was taken through a series of screenshots spliced together rather than an actual video capture.
Chipmunk Physics Demo PSP is compatible with the PSP’s original firmware 1.50, as well as any of the 3.xx custom firmware released for the platform. You can read the in-depth instructions on how to install the application through the Readme.txt file found in the homebrew bundle which we’ve provided below.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy testing out this interesting homebrew physics engine. Don’t forget to check in with us again for more updates on the PSP homebrew development scene.
