Choo-Choo! More train pictures for Densha de Go!

Go Train, GO!

What’s with the whole train frenzy that Japan‘s getting into these days? A few years back, they had an otaku fall in love with a beautiful woman in “Densha Otoko”. The 2007 Kamen Rider show is called “Kamen Rider Den-Oh”, and he’s a masked rider with an interchangeable weapon based on a train motif. Now, we have the upcoming Taito game Densha de Go! headed for the Wii, and we ask ourselves, why do they love trains so much?

Maybe it’s because some of the fastest trains in the world come from Japan, such as the shinkansen line of bullet trains. Maybe it’s due to the speed factor. Maybe it’s because the trains span across most of Japan, and are a metaphor for the progress of Japanese society as a whole. Maybe it’s… OH MY GOD! There’s a cameo from the Cooking Mama lady!

It doesn’t matter why the Japanese are getting into trains. They’re the same folks who made a touch-based cooking game and developed the concept of a leather-clad beat reporter named Hard Gay. They’re quirky, but you can’t deny that they’re popular for one reason or another. Hopefully, this game will make its way to America and parts beyond, if only because there aren’t many things like this on the market.

In the meantime, do you see any more cameos from these Densha de Go! pictures?
