Over at the Ten Ton Hammer site, the Chronicles of Spellborn team has just posted their first entry for their dev diary which talks about the exploration of The DeadSpell Storm. Now, how special is this DeadSpell Storm exactly that the dev team would dedicate their very first dev diary entry to that specific location?

Well, see, The DeadSpell Storm has a rich history that traces back to the destruction of the Altar of the Undying, when a magical surge sent a shockwave of energy throughout the Empire of the Eight Demons – covering the entire land in ice and enveloping it in darkness.

Scholars say that five centuries after this took place, those who destroyed the Altar found themselves in a world that’s totally different from where they used to dwell. Basically, it was buh-bye to blue skies and hello to a maelstrom of remnants of stormy dead spells. Evidently, THAT’s where the place got its name.

Further adding to the mystery of the DeadSpell Storm is its vastness in that the land seems to stretch as far as the eye can see. No one knows exactly where DeadSpell Storm ends, or if it even has an end. Survivors of the Ancestor World found ways to traverse within the land’s every nook and corner, although no one really knows where the paths lead. Once you reach DeadSpell Storm, you will also notice floating chunks of rock and stone which are known as shards and used as places of refuge not only for humans, but for other creatures that have roamed the land as well.

The dev diary won’t divulge any more details on these intruiging shards and how important they really are. Instead, they leave us hanging by saying that players are gonna have to wait til the game is released to explore four of these shards and find out how many there actually are out there, and that more shards will be made available in the game via future content updates. Darn.

These guys sure know how to leave us on the edge of our seats. Don’t worry though, ‘cuz we will be keeping you posted for whatever info and updates we can score on Spellborn and these intriguing shards, so stay tuned!
