Who says you only get to pretend to be a superhero in NCSoft‘s aptly-named City of Heroes MMORPG? The company is announcing that during CoH‘s The Ultimate Heroic Weekend event last Easter, a total of £ 3,000 (US$ 5,958) has been raised for donations to charity.
This event, which took place at the UK’s Omega Sektor gaming center, drew over 1,300 attendees during its four-day run from from March 21 to 24. Donations were earned by a special photo session, where visitors could pose with their favorite heroes and villains from the game.
The weekend-long event also saw the visit of Game Designer Melissa ‘WarWitchÂ’ Bianco, who held a special Q&A session. Also on site were the artists from the Draw the World Together Foundation – the recipient of the donations – who were busily sketching players as their favorite comic book characters.
Shaun Hall, centre Manager for the Omega Sektor, had this to say regarding the event:
We wanted to make this something special and I think we succeeded. The crowds were amazing, with two teams playing “Task Force Omega” non-stop for 24 hours, sleeping in their chairs! I’ve never known anything like it. This was the biggest weekend that the Omega Sektor has ever seen
