Civilization V officially announced

It was inevitable, and now it’s a reality. 2K Games and Firaxis have announced the next full entry in the Civilization franchise,Civilization V. A few details are available past the jump.

It was inevitable, and now it’s a reality. 2K Games and Firaxis have announced the next full entry in the Civilization franchise, Civilization V.

The full reveal is slated to be made in the April issue of GamePro. The announcement did mention a few details, though. Hexagonal tiles, ranged bombardment, and tweaked combat are in. Civ V also has a brand new engine and now features leaders talking in their native language.

Civilization V‘s release date has yet to be announced, although one of the first released images has a “Fall 2010” date stamped on it. No word yet on target platforms, but PC is pretty much a lock especially since the announcement mentions support for modding.
