Clancy franchise and Red Steel boost Ubisoft sales
Publisher Ubisoft has exceeded their target in sales as titles from the Tom Clancy franchise (specifically Splinter Cell Double Agent and Rainbow Six Vegas) and Red Steel brought around EUR 16 million in Q3 of last year. They has also come up as the number one third party publisher for the Wii in North America and Europe while they are number two publisher for the Xbox360.
Sales of the publisher’s DS titles also rose from 2005’s 5% to 9%, though they are more enthusiastic on their next gen titles. According to Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft:
We saw excellent sales for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas – which ranked as the third best-seller in December for the Xbox 360 system in the United States – as well as sustained success for Red Steel and Rayman, which have ranked number two and three in sales for the Wii in the US and Europe since the console launched.”
This year, Ubisoft is planning to step up sales for the PS3 and Xbox 360. And they plan to start it with the release of the FPS Haze and three brand new Wii titles.
