Clive Barker says Jericho is the first of three video games
Codemasters‘ Clive Barker‘s Jericho (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) is a first person shooter that has drawn the attention of many survival horror fans everywhere.
How could it not have that effect considering this was the brainchild of well-known novelist and film-maker Clive Barker. In a recent interview with GamePro, he gave out quite a few details on the game as well as his role in designing it.
One of the biggest bits of information he gave out was that he doesn’t want this game to be a stand-alone title, but a trilogy. He said that he aims for this game to have two sequels ending in a climactic battle against the “son of something.” It’s interesting to note that he used the word “something” to avoid giving away any spoilers.
While almost everyone knows that Barker worked on the story, many of you might not realize that he also had a hand in designing the monsters. Considering that the game is a collaborative effort between the author and the developers, he discussed how he went about doing this with Codemasters.
In a nutshell, Barker just gives out a general idea and lets the designers flesh it out for him. He said that “the essence of the collaborative business is that you’ve got to trust your fellow collaborators, otherwise the experience I think is weakened, watered down.”
It’s nice to see that Clive Barker has taken a very active role in the creation of this title. While he doesn’t play video games, he said that the fun of games for him is in its creation. Well, that’s perfectly fine considering the gaming community will be reaping the rewards.
