CNN’s Good, Bad, and Funny of E3 2006

CNN was at E3 along with all the hardcore game sites on the web and today they put up their thoughts on E3. It’s always interesting to see what a publication that doesn’t revolve around the game industry thinks so we have that information for you today. Here are CNN’s awards for E3.

Most Ingenious Game
Spore

Best Surprise
Nintendo Wii

Biggest Disappointment
Sony (in general)

Funniest Moment
Paris Hilton arriving late to endorse her new cell phone game and then calling it by the wrong name

Prettiest Game
Army of Two (Runners-Up: Assassin’s Creed, Gears of War, and Mass Effect)

I’m still smiling over that ditz Paris Hilton doing what she did. Here’s what CNN had to say:

“‘Sorry I’m late. I’m really excited to have my new videogame, Diamond Quest,’ she announced proudly to the gawking crowds.

Problem is, the name of the Gameloft game — which appeared in large letters behind the celebrity — is ‘Paris Hilton’s Jewel Jam.’ Ouch! Night-vision goggles are not required to play this handheld puzzle diversion. Ahem.”

CNN was disappointed by Sony’s long and boring conference, mediocre game line-up, and expensive price. They were, however, extremely impressed Nintendo’s intuitive controls in Wii Tennis and Super Mario Galaxy. Spore just amazed them overall as did the graphics for Army of Two, Asssassin’s Creed, Gears of War, and Mass Effect.
