First introduced under the working title of Race Driver One, Race Driver: GRID brings the next iteration of Codemasters’ DiRT engine to bear. Here’s what chief game designer Ralph Fulton had to say about Race Driver: GRID:
GRID focuses on everything that happens between the start grid and the chequered flag: the drama, the rivalries, the aggression and the crashes. This is not a game about collecting cars or spending all of your time in the front-end tuning suspension settings or designing liveries. We want to make racing exciting again.
Choosing from a stable of some of the most powerful race cars – new and classic, circuit and drift – players can compete in official race tracks and championships in Europe and then go beyond to race in city-based competitions, road events and urban street races in Japan and the U.S.
Race Driver: GRID is being developed for the Games for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms and is scheduled for a mid 2008 release. For now, here are a few screenshots for you guys to drool over.
