Codemasters planning Clive Barker franchise after Jericho?

Gaming news site IGN reports that Codemasters is hoping that its relationship with bestselling author Clive Barker will continue past the upcoming horror FPS title Jericho. It seems the company is looking towards a possible Clive Barker franchise similar to Ubisoft‘s Tom Clancy series of games.

In an interview with IGN, Jericho producer Joe Falke noted Barker’s “massive back catalogue of stuff” that could be used to create videogames. Falke also mentioned that Barker himself “wants to extend his reach to new audiences” and that Codemasters is looking at the author as “a potential source of many different games and not just horror titles“.

“Not a lot of people know that he also writes a lot of fantasy stories – not elves and goblins stuff – and this could certainly be used for something,” said Falke. “We could produce a ‘Clive Barker’ range of games, like Ubisoft does with Tom Clancy.”

It would be interesting to see what Codemasters can do with, say, Weaveworld and Imajica, for example. What this blogger personally wants though is a game where you play a Cenobite and the goal is to come up with innovative ways of torturing people. That might make gaming legislators send armed people to my door and haul me off to God knows where, though. What about you guys? Which of Barker’s many stories and universes would you like turned into a game?
