Homebrew developer Lilou just released a new version of ComBox, which is a powerful file transfer homebrew application for the Nintendo DS. Not only does it upload or download files from your computer, ComBox version 1.3 also provides the ease of quickly displaying downloadable files from HTTP websites and access to FTP clients.
ComBox’ compatibility with HTTP-structured websites, a feature called Lilou HTTP, allows DS users to view what they can download by searching href tags then making a list. It is also possible to upload applications, images, documents, movies, and music files using the HTTP client browser. However, among other negatives such as complex HTML syntax that can cause incorrect parsing of web pages, you have to be aware that it can only decompress zip files.
Those who are familiar with FTP can expect the most convenient features from ComBox v1.3. With Lilou’s homebrew application, you can rename, download or upload files to the FTP server. It compresses files on the fly to make upload speeds better, but be wary of data link connection errors.
Aside from FTP support, ComBox also offers the ability to create FTP servers. The key features of this function are listed below:
- FTP standards support
- Intuitive Ftp user interface.
- Users list
- Security features
- Robust
- manage time-out (2 minutes of inactivity will logout)
- automatic connection retry (100 % success)
- more user friendly
- save & restore configuration
- zip transfer (level 1 to 9)
- upload and download files
