Concept: Juice up your iPhone/iPad/iTouch…with an icon?

While most of us might settle for a PowerMat charger or a Mophie Juice Pack, you have to admit that there’s nothing really that cool about using them. While most of us might settle for a PowerMat charger or a Mophie Juice Pack, you have to admit that there’s nothing really that cool about using them. For those of us that like some aesthetic pleasure, we’ve found the perfect fix for you – the iPhone ‘icon’ charger.

 

 

The battery operates by showing you its charge via the EL lighting film embedded inside. Once connected, it will start to charge your phone. The “icon” will give you up to 3 hours additional talk time on 3G, 7 hours talk time on 2G, and a whopping 18 more hours of audio playback.

 

Although this may sound like just a concept to you guys, it seems that the design firm Essential TPE is actually going to start selling this product sometime in the near future. It’s an official accessory, approved by Apple and badged as “Works with iPhone”. It’s also won a Taiwanese design award or two, if that tickles your fancy.
