Cops bust drug dealer, play with his Wii

Back in March, Florida police raided the home of a 43-year-old ex-con which yielded some drugs, weapons, and stolen property. Job well done, right? It would have been, if only they weren’t caught playing with the guy’s Wii after the raid.

Back in March, Florida police raided the home of a 43-year-old ex-con which yielded some drugs, weapons, and stolen property. Job well done, right? It would have been, if only they weren’t caught playing with the guy’s Wii after the raid.

By that I mean they played some bowling on Wii Sports. All of the hot ball-on-pin action was caught on camera thanks to a security device that the detectives didn’t notice. The raid’s supervisor did notice them playing, but instead of reprimanding the officers he joined in the game.

“Well you can’t explain that,” said Polk County sheriff Grady Judd. “My deputies know that they shouldn’t have been playing Wii while they were involved in that search warrant.”

“It’s an embarrassment to the detectives involved and its an embarrassment to the organization. But you know what? We employ 1,800 people and not one of them is perfect. We all make mistakes. They made a mistake,” Judd added.

A total of 16 detectives from the Sheriff’s office, Winter Haven, Auburndale and Lakeland police departments were involved in the raid, which lasted nine hours and reportedly cost taxpayers US$ 4,000. Sheriff Judd, however, claims that no tax dollars were wasted as there’s always downtime during searches.
