Corporate bloodletting: Harrison, Kaplan, and Llewelyn to leave NoA
The last time we heard about Nintendo of America‘s (NoA) big decision to move from its headquarters in Redmond, employees working in the legendary company had been given a deadline to decide whether or not to pack up and follow suit.
Now that the deadline’s pretty much here, things turned out bloodier than expected: approximately 90% of the Sales and Marketing staff of Nintendo of America have declined to make the move and opted for the severance package instead, thereby leaving the company all together.
It’s not just the regular employees who called it quits, however – three major figures in the NoA hierarchy have also hung up their guns namely:
- Senior Director of Public Relations Beth Llewelyn
- Vice President for Marking and Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan
- Senior Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison
This in itself drastically cuts out a large portion of the company’s key marketing executive team, leaving only Chairman and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima and President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. And even then, we’re not sure if the two will be joining the move to New York or San Francisco.
So this pretty much leaves things up in the air on what’s in store for Nintendo. A bloody day indeed for Ninty of America. Updates as we get them.
