Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 GDC 08 video shows Zack the gatecrasher

Lucky attendees of the Game Developers Conference 2008 were treated to a Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 video of Zack “doing what he does best,” courtesy of Square Enix.

Special events like the Game Developers Conference 2008 aren’t just for talks; they’re venues for film viewing as well. Case in point: Square Enix recently revealed a gameplay video of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7.

It showed Zack acting as a gatecrashing decoy for his teammate, Angeal. While the demonstration of the battle system itself was enlightening, the most interesting aspect of the video was the character development that took place.

This happened during the conversation between Zack and Angeal, before the actual battle. Note the momentary ritual that Angeal performs with his buster sword; it also highlights what the weapon’s real function for him is.
