After the release of last year’s Crysis for the PC, we’ve seen just how powerful a game engine CryENGINE 2 is by pushing the visuals of the game to new heights for an FPS. This year, Crytek has announced that it will be giving everyone a sneak preview of how CryENGINE 2 will look like on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 during a demonstration of the game engine at the upcoming Game Developer Conference 2008.

Crytek staff members Cevat Yerli, Sten Hubler and Bernd Diemr will be hosting a GDC session entitled “Crysis in the Making” at the event. The talk will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of developing the game and the CryENGINE 2.

Hopefully, this will spell better quality visuals for the current generation of consoles should the technology translate well enough for the heavy spec game engine (Crysis for the PS3 and Xbox 360 perhaps?).

The company will also be hosting other demonstrations on how to run the high maintenance game engine on a decent PC with minimal specs. Crytek will feature this and other demonstrations at booth #6611 in the North Hall of the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The GDC 2008 will run from February 20 to 22 and will feature other big names in the video games industry as well as the latest innovations in their field.
