Electronic Arts and Crytek have been prepping Crysis as one of several must-haves for your muscle PC, so it’s about time that the next-generation PC game’s specifics were nailed down, Nanosuit-style. As a plus and to keep those high-end graphics owners aching for more, EA also has released new screenshots for your viewing pleasure.
But first, let’s get straight to the facts. US researchers discovered a mysterious artifact in the South China Sea, and it’s turned up tensions in the region between US and North Korean forces. Technology, after all, is a precious resource too valuable to pass up.
The North Korean government seizes the immediate area of the discovery site, so the US government decides to use extreme caution and deploys a covert commando team to rescue the American personnel. The lush tropical environment suddenly gets iced – literally – and now both North Korean armed forces and American military contingents must face the impending alien threat. Players get thrust into the versatile Nanosuit and must use a collection of customizable weaponry, selectable augmentations to abilities, and tactics to thwart enemy AI and aid allies in beating back the opposition.
Using realistic physics, the player would soon have to face the aliens in zero-gravity, placing more challenges like adapting to gun recoils while suspended in mid-air, getting used to impact from kinetic weapons, and more. We guess shooting aliens upside down would be total norm then? VTOLs, boats, and ATVs will be available to players’ perusals, with a slight realistic kick in physics.
And once you complete the campaign, Crysis will offer 32-player “full-featured” multiplayer with weapon customization and Nanosuits, although cooperative modes will probably not be in there. If players were hoping for a more team-oriented approach, the PowerStruggle mode aims to satisfy. This thinking, strategy-shooter mode combines economy, vehicle warfare and alien technology for a hike up the world ranking boards.
