Cult classic redux: Alien Breed confirmed for 2009
If you’re a fan of alien slaughter, you’d probably remember Alien Breed as a cult classic. Oh man, it’s up there among the ranks of Zombies Ate My Neighbors (for the zombie fans) and Bionic Commando (for the militaristic Tarzan types). So guess what we heard today? Team17 is actually re-releasing Alien Breed next year, but… at what form will it take and for what console? DLC, remake, port, or what?
Worms creators Team17 has confirmed that they’re going to release Alien Breed sometime next year. Excited much? Yeah, chances are, if you’re not a fan of blasting through hordes of zombies, alien slaughter might be your thing.
Aside from showing off the new logo for the game, Team17 hasn’t revealed any details about this iteration of Alien Breed. While the original was released back in 1991 for the Amiga platform (with an expanded Special Edition ’92 released a year after), the Alien Breed scheduled for 2009 could be anything, really.
It might come in the form of a simple port made available through online networks (PSN, XBLA, Virtual Console) or an enhanced remake much like Bionic Commando: Rearmed.
