DAoC’s Huge Expansion: Labyrinth of the Minotaur Coming Soon

Yesterday, Electronic Arts (EA) announced Labyrinth of the Minotaur, the seventh expansion to the epic fantasy MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot and will celebrate the 5th anniversary of Dark Age of Camelot.

What quickly got our attention is the Clockwork Kitten. If you pre-order this expansion, you’ll receive the Clockwork Kitten to join you on your adventures in the Realms.

Some of the key features of this expansion:

• Minotaur Relics: New RvR Game Play
  These powerful relics have been uncovered, and their corrupting influence now threatens the world. For those looking for excitement, players can use these new relics. But watch out; you’ll become targets to be hunted by other Realms.
• The Minotaur: A New Playable Race for All Realms
  Combat the evil growing evil with the half-man, half-bull Minotaur. This is the first playable race in the Realms in two years. Its key feature? It is so powerful it can wield two-handed weapons with a single hand.
• The Mauler: A New Player Class for All Realms
  This brawler class uses earth elemental powers. Experienced players from any Realm can unlock this class. EA’s press release says this class will bring “a fresh take on Player vs. Environment (PvE) quests and Realm vs. Realm (RvR) combat.”
• The Labyrinth: The Largest Dungeon in MMO History?
  Found beneath the island of Agramon, this huge maze is the largest single dungeon in any MMO according to EA’s press release, and “contains exciting new PvE quests, new encounters, and challenging new areas for RvR combat.”
• Mythical Items: New Item Slots
  The Labyrinth yields new items for the brave and intrepid.
• Champion Levels: Five New Levels
  With the introduction of five new additional Champion Levels (Levels 6-10), players can expand their powers, abilities, and items slots even further.

The game is being developed at EA Mythic (what used to be Mythic Entertainment). It’s scheduled to be released in the US later this year for the PC. “I can’t think of any better way to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Dark Age of Camelot than with the release of a new expansion for the players,” said Walt Yarbrough, Producer of Dark Age of Camelot. “This exciting, story-driven content will bring new thrills to an already vibrant and thriving game world. There is no better time to be playing Camelot than right now!”

Of course, because this is an expansion, you’ll need the original Dark Age of Camelot and Darkness Rising expansions to play.
