Dark Sector: three new screens and some updates
We haven’t had much coverage of Digital Extremes‘ Dark Sector, since everything about it is well, in the dark. Since its announcement last 2004, there hasn’t been much material about it floating around in the press. However, it seems that we may be getting our first few bits of info on this mysterious game. The latest Game Informer issue had a few details, 3 new screenshots, and reports that there’s a slight change in game concept.
If you check out the trailers for this game from way back in E3 2005, the game looked like it was going to be a sci-fi action thriller of sorts. These screens set the game in what the site we’ve sourced claims to be Russia. Reportedly, you follow the story of an FBI agent (we assume this is protagonist Hayden Tenno, but our source did say there was a game concept change) that gets a supernatural parasite of some kind implanted into his arm. Check out the pics. That arm is there to dish out bloody fun.
As for the gameplay, XboxWay speculates that it will have action style gameplay similar to the third person camera style we experience on Gears of War. Also, according to Digital Extremes, there’ll be numerous weapons in the game and one of them will be a “magic disc” that can let you kill enemies from a distance. Think Xena’s chakram only not that cheesy.
How exactly these new bits of info will tie in with the stuff we have from the trailers? We’re still not sure. We’ll have to wait (again) I guess. The game is set to be out by autumn 2007 for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. We’ll update you if we get any more info on this shadowy game.
