DDO: Mail and Auction House changes

DDO

While we all wait for our dragonshards to be delivered to us, let’s turn our focus on the upcoming changes to Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach. This time, Mail and the Auction House will be getting some makeover. We know it’s not as exciting as getting a freebie from Turbine, but still, we need to know about these things. After all, we use them at least once in our DDO lifetime. Upcoming changes to Mail and the Auction House are as follow:

Mail

  • Mail with item or currency attachment will not be deleted unless they are detached. A warning message pops up if you try to delete the mail without detaching the items or currencies.
  • Messages that have been read/opened will stay in your mailbox for 14 days instead of three.
  • Admin mail that has an item or currency attached will never be automatically deleted.

A complete restructure of the Auction House is currently taking place. This is good news to players who find the formula for determining the posting fees quite complicated. Upon completion of the restructuring, the system will use a percentage of the item’s value, which will increase based on the length of the auction. Here’s the new fee structure:

  • 8 hour auction = 0.5% of item value with a 5gp minimum
  • 24 hour auction = 1% of item value with a 10gp minimum
  • 48 hour auction = 1.5% of item value with a 15gp minimum
  • 72 hour auction = 2% of item value with a 20gp minimum

The posting fee will be based solely on the item’s value. Buyout prices will not affect the posting fee at all. As for the selling fees, the Auction House will charge 30% of the sell price for all successful auctions, regardless of the the auction length.

Finally, the Auction UI is currently undergoing improvements to make sure that players get accurate and up-to-date info on the status of auctions.

There you have it. Now, we’re back to thinking about that dragonshard…
