DEFCON *might be headed for the PSP; Introversion waiting for prototype
CVG reports that Introversion Software, developer of the PC cult hit, DEFCON, has announced that it will be bringing the destroy-everything game to mobile platforms. Well, it wasn’t really announced directly, but there is a job listing that reads:
An opportunity has arisen for a new version of DEFCON to be created for a mobile platform. In order to de-risk the project Introversion requires the development of a prototype that will demonstrate the game running on a simulation of the target platform. Once we have acquired the prototype we will further investigate the commercial viability of the title. Should we choose to proceed, we will be looking to create the full version of mobile DEFCON.
No “official” word yet on the target platform, but as the job listing said, the developers will consider it, or in their words, “investigate the commercial viability” after a prototype is done.
Both CVG and PSP Fanboy are speculating that one will eventually be made for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). We’re hoping for that, too. Given the number of you homebrew folks out there, one of you is bound to come up with something that’ll convince Introversion Software, right?
