Demos and Xbox Live activity for week of 10/23
In a very recent article, “PSP demo drought compared to Windows, Xbox 360?,” we shared how somebody complained that there weren’t enough PSP demos. That same person basically said that Sony needs to do something like Xbox Live, where demos are readily available.
So before we get to the top ten lists of Xbox Live activities (which most of you have seen by now, because Major Nelson posted it Saturday, October 28), can we ask a few questions?
- Xbox Live has demos for so many games (dare we say, “Xbox Live has demos for the majority of the games”?). Do you think this is one reason for the success of Xbox Live?
- If there weren’t any demos, do you think you would go to Xbox Live less often?
- If there weren’t any demos, do you think you would turn on your Xbox less often?
- Does the fact that you can get demos really add to the value of your console?
Yeah, simple questions. And we’re guessing your answer to all these questions is a simple, resounding yes.
Microsoft has its share of critics, but when it comes to marketing, and when it comes to finding ways to connect to its gamers and keeping you interested in their platform, they’re doing a fine job (and if you agree or disagree, that’s what the comments system is for below, hehe!).
So it’s on to the lists (oh, look, two of the Xbox 360 Top Live Titles are demos):
Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (UUÂ’s)
- Splinter Cell Double Agent
- Call of Duty 2
- Tony Hawk’s Project 8 Demo
- Ghost Recon 3
- Madden NFL 07
- Saints Row
- Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
- Final Fantasy XI
- S.C.D.A. Online Demo
- BFMC
