Battlefield series has five titles in varying stages of development - Image 1Do you love the sounds of pew-pewing in the morning? Well, you’re in luck. Ben Cousins, executive producer at Electronic Arts‘ DICE studio, revealed that his team is actually at work on five different Battlefield titles.

Notes Cousins in his keynote presentation at GDC Paris:

Since the start of this year I’ve been working as executive producer for the entire Battlefield franchise – we’ve got five titles in development at the moment, which is probably more than you expect.

In addition to the free-to-play Battlefield Heroes and the recently released Battlefield: Bad Company (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3), Cousins mentioned that they were also cooking up three other games. One of them would be a traditional Battlefield game meant for the consoles, while another would be a collaborative effort with Neowiz specifically made for the Korean market.

All these developments certainly makes us smile, as the Battlefield games have always carried an interesting pedigree. Now that they’re diversifying the brand name with similar yet radically different takes on the shooting genre, we’re excited to know what the new Battlefield game will be like and, more importantly, what the unspecified fifth game is all about.
